We collect your email address through Google login, so we can verify you are a Stanford affiliate. If you are signed in, we store your lesson progress and the answers and code you submit for each slide, so course staff can give credit and understand where the class is stuck. That includes anything you type into a written-answer box.

We keep the answers you change, not only the last one — so staff can see that a question caught most of the class out, not just where everyone ended up. Run output is sent to be checked but is not stored; all that is kept of a run is whether it compiled and ran. We do not collect keystrokes, edit history, or your work while you are signed out. Sign in and your work is kept; work done signed out is never sent anywhere for storage.

Where your instructor takes attendance, we store whether you entered the code for that lecture and when — and, if course staff mark you present or excused by hand, which staff member did. We also store which assignments staff have marked you as having completed. Both are how credit for being in the room, and for any work you owe because you were not, is recorded.

Course staff can read signed-in submissions through the management pages, and may show a step’s answers in class — without names unless they turn them on. We keep submissions until staff delete an activity’s submissions or a student record is deleted. To ask for deletion, email the CS106L instructors at cs106l-aut2627-staff@lists.stanford.edu.
